Male', MALDIVES - A very very late strike from leading scorer Kofi Debrah put Vyansa in a very comfortable position to advance to the President’s Cup as one of the top four clubs of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League. Vyansa, whose coach Marzooq (Marey) signaled today’s game their most important game of the season, failed to show their regular class but grabbed that vital three points in the nick of time. It was so even in the first half that neither team produced many open chances to penetrate the opponents and Vyansa, who beat New Radiant and Valencia, in their last two games failed to show that top class performance throughout the game. Maziya’s Chandradasa happened to be the first player to create an open chance in first half, but missed it completely. Nazmeen’s cross fell into unmarked Chandra in the 14th minute and his effort to send the ball over the keeper went over the cross bar as well. Maziya’s strikers found easily caught in the offside traps of Vyansa in this half, but in the 21st minute once again they created another chance. This time Sujau beat his marker and took the shot, which keeper Amoaka saved nicely. Vyansa improved their game plan in the second period of the game, but couldn’t find enough space to score the winner until the first minute of two minute extra time shown. In form Rilwan crossed the ball into Maziya penalty area and with a diving header Kofi sent the ball into the back of Maziya’s net to earn a very important three points. After the game winning coach Marzooq (Marey) stated they came today knowing the game would be difficult and he further explained that players seemed too tired of playing so many games in a close duration. He also took a note of support they received from people of Viligili, the ward Vyansa is based. “We came today knowing this will be a hard game, because Maziya is a team of our level” He said. “Players were tired in the first half, may be because of too many games recently. We played three games in ten days” “During half time, I explained the players that Maziya beat New Radiant 3-0 so they can score a goal at any time and asked them to concentrate more on defence” Marey believed teams that are lined up for top four are in a close range and said teams work hard will get the success. Vyansa will face Victory in their next game and Marey said a win against the reds will give them a good success in the league. He then noted the support from people of Viligili, in other words their supporters. “We get a very good support from people of Viligili, so I think we can get a good result in the league” “Our main problem today is the player couldn’t concentrate and their discipline was very low” “We also couldn’t make full use of the opportunities we got” “We have three more matches in the league and we will focus on these matches to get a good result, I hope we can get something out of these matches” When asked about the substitution of Farhan he replied: “In the last three games he played with a shoulder injury. Even today he came to the match after the treatment and many players believed he could perform well, that’s why I included him”
